Post Secret Faves 10/29/2008

One of the things that I am most thankful for this year is Pham showing me the Post Secret website. Just the idea of having something there that lets me say all my secrets without having anyone know that it's my secret calms me. And there is always at least one post that tears me up (and sometimes you just need a good cry for no reason). It's also comforting to know that everyone out there has there own problems to deal with and that by writing them down, they are acknowledging them and trying to move past those problems.


This week, I really like these two posts. One is about love for a family member while the other is love for a friend. The one about the Grandma makes me miss my grandparents. I wished that I had a better relationship with them, or least I was able to see them more than twice a year. I'm afraid that I won't be able to see my grandparents who live in China before they die. I don't even have recordings of their voices.

The second post makes me think about friendship and ethics. I'm sure that everyone has experienced something where they felt that an act was wrong when someone did it but when a friend commits the same act, it's not so wrong. Am I right? We feel the need to make excuses for our friends or at least say that "I understand her. She did it because.....(for example, she had to do it)". This confirms that friendship is about forgiveness and understanding. Even though we might feel something is wrong with what they are doing, we still have to be there for them during tough times.
